Neon White, the latest critically acclaimed title from Annapurna Interactive, has players rushing through heaven, killing demons, and trying to beat their friend's high scores. Between a stellar voice cast, an intriguing story, satisfying gameplay, a great art style, and more, Neon White is sure to become one of the most memorable indie titles of the generation.

But where do players go once they've completed everything and crave other games with fast-paced action or other similarities? Luckily, there are a number of excellent titles with several similarities to Neon White that should easily satisfy players who are looking for more.

8 Ghostrunner

The Tempest Wind Blast Power From Ghostrunner

Ghostrunner is a fast-paced FPS similar to Neon White, but the gameplay, story, and style all have some vast differences. This time around, the S in FPS stands for Slasher instead of Shooter, as the player character uses a technologically advanced sword known as the monomolecular katana as their primary weapon, rather than guns.

Ghostrunner also provides a similar amount of challenge to Neon White, if not more, since it takes only one hit for the player to be killed. Luckily, there are various checkpoints scattered throughout each level, so players usually don't have to start over from the beginning.

7 Superhot

FPS Gameplay of SUPERHOT

Superhot is a stylish first-person shooter where movement is a crucial factor. Enemies don't move until the player does, so they have to quickly plan out their tactics each time they get closer to enemies. In addition to guns, there are other weapons and abilities that you should learn how to properly use if you want to be able to complete each level.

Superhot also has a unique minimalist art style that could make or break trying it out for some players, as well as several additional modes where players can further test and enhance their skills.

6 Bright Memory: Infinite

A rooftop with lightning, rain, and beautiful red trees in the distance in Bright Memory.

Bright Memory: Infinite, an expanded remake and sequel to 2019's Bright Memory, is a science fiction FPS game that takes place in 2036 and has agents of the Supernatural Science Research Organization investigating a mysterious phenomenon happening in the sky all over the world.

While there are plenty of different guns to use that can be loaded with various types of ammo, you can also use your sword to take on enemies, and it can even be used to fend off incoming gunfire. Bright Memory: Infinite is also not a very long game, so it's best recommended for players who prefer shorter experiences.

5 Warhammer: Vermintide 2

There are five different playable characters, although no players can play as the same one at the same time, as well as several careers that players can choose from, each with their own unique skill trees. The base game can get repetitive when fighting against hordes of the same enemies, but frequent updates and newly expanded content help alleviate that somewhat.

4 Inscryption

Inscryption is an odd deck-building card game combined with several other genres and has a bit of a metafictional twist. It's hard to discuss the game without giving too much away, but Inscryption is much less conventional than traditional card game video games, and although its base rules stay the same, certain aspects change as players progress.

Inscryption also includes a number of homages and references to other games and related media. For players who have enjoyed the card game aspect but aren't fond of the other elements of the game, there is also an official mod that focuses only on the card game instead.

3 Katana Zero

Katana Zero is not a first-person shooter but is a 2D side-scrolling action game where players have to figure out the best way to complete a level without getting killed in one hit by various enemies and obstacles. Players must not only dodge and slash their way through each level but also use their time manipulation abilities to avoid certain death.

While some levels require more specific methods to be completed, most can be completed using a variety of methods. Although it lacks the voice acting of Neon White, Katana Zero also has an intriguing and mystery-filled story in addition to its quick and satisfying gameplay.

2 Paradise Killer

Paradise-Killer-City-Overview

Paradise Killer is an open-world science-fiction mystery adventure game. In Paradise Killer, players take the role of exiled immortal detective Lady Love Dies as she explores the world and gathers clues about the perpetrator behind the murders of the entire Syndicate Council.

Lady Love Dies also has the authority to execute any individual found guilty, giving her a bit more leverage than a standard detective as well as the ability to put other characters on trial at whatever time you feels is right. Paradise Killer is also known for its soundtrack, which was heavily influenced by City Pop of the 1970s and 1980s.

1 Donut County

Donut County Mira and BK Drop A Donut Into A Hole In The Ground

Donut County is a peculiar indie title by Neon White creator Ben Esposito and is an entirely different type of game. In Donut County, players control a hole, with the primary objective in each level being to get every object into the hole.

Not every level is as easy as just dropping all objects into the hole, though, as various obstacles can prevent objects from falling into the hole, adding a more challenging puzzle-solving element to the game. Despite its simple premise, Donut County still has a story featuring important characters investigating the hole's appearance, hoping to solve the problems it has caused.
