Nerd Street Gamers continues to take steps to build a national platform for aspiring eSports competitors by announcing an unusual, but unquestionably delicious partnership with Mike and Ike.

The Philadelphia-based company will soon be launching its National Championship Series, a ten city tour that will provide exposure to amateur players as well as the potential to win upwards of $30,000. In addition to their most recent partnership, Nerd Street Gamers has raised an impressive $12 million so far as well as partnering with retail chain Five Below to host future events.

John Fazio, CEO of Nerd Street Gamers, called the bite-sized candy a “...Dynamic candy brand that a lot of us gamers grew up on.” Fazio continued by saying the company is thrilled to have Mike and Ike help them expand and bring eSports to gamers around the country.

Mike and Ike won’t exactly be silent partners. As an official partner, their name is going to be all over promotional materials, social media feeds and live broadcasts. Trophies and subsequent awards will also bear the Mike and Ike logo.

Deb Turoczy of Just Born Quality Confections went on to say that “We are excited to be the official partner of the National Championship Series, as it strengthens our presence in the gaming and eSports community.”

As Nerd Street Gamers continues to build a significant platform and is only picking up steam with each new sponsorship, the eSports scene seems poised to unearth new talent and pick up further widespread attention.

Even if one is more of a Hot Tamales kind of person, “Mike and Ike’s Player of the Week” has a much better ring to it.
