It’s been a little over a week since Castlevania season 3 came out on Netflix. Finished yet? It’s not a big commitment as each of the ten episodes are only thirty minutes apiece give, or take a few. Plus it’s funny.

So if one is done binging then it is assumed questions must be looming in the back of the mind. Not questions involving senseless plot lines, but more about stories that were left untold. What cliffhangers did season 3 leave off with? These ten mysteries are at the top of the list that will hopefully get answered in season 4 next year.

There will of course be spoilers ahead.

10 Metal Gear?

During Saint Germain’s dream sequence into the infinite corridor, the first portal that opens up is on what appears to be some kind of African landscape. Then, in the background, a giant bipedal machine starts looming forward. What other Konami franchise has bipedal machines? Yes, this might be a reference to Metal Gear, specifically Metal Gear 2. The landscape shown and the version of the classic tank look a lot like the Japanese box art. Is this simply an Easter Egg, or does Netflix have a Metal Gear series in the works next?

9 Who Was Saint Germain Looking For?

Another question left unanswered involving the Infinite Corridor is who the woman Saint Germain saw. He told Trevor and Sypha that he was looking for someone and presumably this woman was it.

So who is she? Well for those unaware Saint Germain comes from Curse of Darkness, a PS2 entry. This is also where Isaac and Hector hail from. Saint Germain is not looking for anyone in that game though so this inclusion is new. It will most likely end up being his daughter. That’s a good a guess as any.

8 Germain’s Powers And Whereabouts

Last, but not least on Saint Germain and this tunnel, what exactly happened? Was he dreaming about the Metal Gear, or does he have some sort of power to use, or at least connect him to this mysterious gateway? For that matter what happened to him in the end? Will he come back somehow in season 4, or will this set up something else in another series? There are many questions needless to say.

7 Who Is The Captain?

Who was the Captain that sailed Isaac across the sea? He was pretty cagey when Isaac asked his name only to reply with something along the lines of the Captain as that is good enough for now. If he was played by someone smaller one would toss this character aside as a side attraction. However, as he was voiced by famed actor Lance Reddick the possibility of him being a one note character are slim. He will definitely return in some capacity for season 4.

6 Where Is Grant?

One of the biggest questions fans have had since season one is where Grant Danasty is. In Castlevania III, which is the basis for this series, Trevor is joined by three companions: Grant, Sypha, and Alucard. Grant is the only one missing, or is he? There is a possibility that the Captain is actually Grant.

Yes, his skin color is different, but Isaac’s color was also changed. Let’s look at the other facts. Grant was a pirate captain before Dracula captured and enslaved him. After fighting with Trevor he snaps to his senses and joins the party. This might explain why the Captain is so dodgy toward Isaac, but also unafraid of monsters.

5 Who Was The Alchemist?

Compared to Trevor and Sypha’s story, everyone else’s narrative takes a backseat. For instance, Isaac’s plot is a bit meandering although stuff at least happens. Viewers might be curious to know what was going on with the alchemist in the ruined city. The one the old woman, Miranda, pointed him toward. Realistically he probably isn’t important since he isn’t named to anyone fans should recognize. He was simply an obstacle Isaac had to overcome in order to get another magic mirror. Who knows? Maybe this guy will have some relevance in season 4.

4 Will Miranda Come Back?

Isaac’s journey leads him to fight the aforementioned alchemist. Once he gets his hands on the mirror he wishes to see Miranda who is seen smirking. Is this because she is glad Isaac took out the alchemist, or does she have an anterior motive? She is a witch, but told Isaac her powers were dwindling. Is this true, or was she just bluffing? All signs point to her becoming involved with Isaac again in one way or another.

3 The Judge And The Church

While Saint Germain is exploring the church Sala’s monks are stationed at, he discovered that someone performed some Satanic magic there before them. It is never said out loud what happened there, but given the Judge had a dark secret, it is to be expected he performed some rituals there as well. Maybe that’s what he needed the children for. As to what purpose is unknown. As the city is all but destroyed along with the Judge, it is unlikely this will ever be properly explained.

2 Does Dracula Intend To Come Back?

The point of Castlevania is that no matter what the Belmont family and their allies do, Dracula comes back in one way, or another. So even when he is “killed” in season two, longtime fans expected him to return at some point in the anime. Sala and his men try to resurrect him by opening a portal to Hell so that he could pass through.

The way he behaved looked like he was actually bothered by this fact. After all he has the one thing he ever cared for back, his wife Lisa. Why leave Hell? Him not wanting to be resurrected would be a neat twist on the franchise.

1 Alucard’s Sanity

Another, more plausible event might occur in that Alucard might become the new lord of the night. After one month alone his sanity was already seen dwindling. After he welcomed in Takka and Zumi into his home with open arms only to be betrayed, well, that probably effected his mind even further. Is he going to go off the deep end and start killing trespassers to become the monster most think vampires are? That would also be a great twist, but a bummer to be sure.
