Narcos, the hit crime drama from Netflix, is coming to a game console near you. For some reason.

There’s no denying that Narcos was one of Netflix’s biggest hits. Sure, maybe not quite as big as House of Cards or Orange is the New Black, but it was still huge, and now it’s going to become a video game.

According to a recent trailer posted on YouTube, Narcos production company Gaumont International is teaming up with British publisher Curve digital to take the drug-lord focused drama and turn it into a video game.

You may remember Curve Digital best from… frankly, you probably don’t know Curve Digital at all. They published an incredible slew of second-to-third rate games like Velocity Ultra, The Windle, Pumped BMX+, and 10 Second Ninja X. Never heard of them? Neither did we until we looked up the company.

Curve is contracting out the development work to their sister company, Kuju Entertainment. Now, you might have heard of Kuju; they’re the guys who made Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and the sequel, the short-lived Guitar Hero Live, and the Zoomba series of games for the Wii. So there’s a chance this Narcos game won’t be a complete disaster, but it could really go either way.

“We’re looking forward to creating a game that matches the fantastic storyline and gritty action of the Netflix series," said Kuju's studio head Brynley Gibson in an interview with Techspot. "We’re tremendously excited and have some amazing gameplay elements in the works that will please both fans of the show and gamers."

Narcos tells the story of the Colombian cocaine cartels from the ‘80s and ‘90s. The first two seasons dealt almost exclusively with Pablo Escobar and his Medellin Cartel. The third season follows the Cali Cartel as they take over the cocaine business following Escobar’s death.

We’ve got no idea what the game will be like other than it will have story and characters from the three seasons released so far. It could be a story-book game a la TellTale, or it could be an open-world sandbox game like the GTA series.

Look for this Narcos game to release sometime in 2019. Or not. We’re not your boss.
