The rumored Borderlands 2 DLC has leaked on Steam.

Last week, we found out that Gearbox has some surprises in store for us at this year’s E3. In addition to new gameplay footage for Borderlands 3, including a showcase of a new vault hunter and a new planet, we also heard rumors that they would release a brand new DLC for Borderlands 2 to serve as a narrative bridge between the two games.

PlayStation Life reported the title as Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary, which lead us to assume that the DLC would tell the story of what happened to the original Sanctuary and why Borderlands 3 has the player travel the stars aboard the Sanctuary 3 (and also maybe tell us what happened to Sanctuary 2).

Thanks to what appears to be an accidental leak on Steam, we now have way more details on what to expect in this new DLC.

“Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault's map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora,” reads the DLC’s description. The Steam page has since been taken down, but a helpful Redditor named kulapik took a bunch of screenshots and captured the DLC’s details.

From what we can see, some unknown villain is up to no good and released some sort of mutagen that is turning Pandora’s psychos into plant-person amalgams. Apparently these models were part of a canceled Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel DLC but never saw the light of day when developer 2K Australia went under (pun intended).

Besides the new story-based missions, there will be new bosses, new loot, and new areas to explore. A new item level above legendary called “Rainbow” rarity will be introduced, which will surely mean even more powerful and insane weaponry to blow through Pandora’s enemies with.

For longtime Borderlands players, the level cap is being increased to 80 and new characters can now skip straight to level 30. Presumably this means that Normal Vault Hunter Mode can be skipped entirely to start at True Vault Hunter Mode, but that’s not confirmed in the DLC description. Also unknown is what will happen to Overpower Levels that were added in the Raid on Digistruct Peak DLC which essentially let players acquire gear to level 80 without actually getting additional health or skill points.

Perhaps best of all the DLC was listed as absolutely free to anyone who owns Borderlands 2.

Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary’s release date was listed as June 9th. If the recent ultra-high def graphics patch didn’t convince you to download the game, maybe this will.
