Almost as soon as the game was released, players have been finding bunkers hidden throughout Call of Duty: Warzone's fictional city of Verdansk. At first, these bunkers didn't seem to have any significance, but they eventually led to the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Now, that Black Ops Cold War season one has started, players have found that a new bunker has appeared in Call of Duty: Warzone.

This summer, Treyarch and Activision chose to market the release of Black Ops Cold War through an alternate reality game called Pawn Takes Pawn that directed players to the coordinates of different bunkers. Inside of these bunkers, we collectively uncovered ciphers and clues that led to the discovery of the reveal trailer for Black Ops Cold War.

Recently, another alternate reality game was launched, after discovering that Activision sent Call of Duty influencers mysterious packages leading to the trailer for season one of Cold War on Warzone. As with Pawn Takes Pawn, it appears there will be another bunker hunt in Warzone, as players have found a new bunker under the Verdansk International Airport.

The bunker was uncovered thanks to a gaping hole in the airport runway that wasn't there before. Inside there are camera feeds that show some of the other bunkers in the city. One of these other bunkers even holds a nuclear missile. The popular opinion is that this missile will be used to wipe the map and start another chapter in the Warzone story—much the same way that the "black hole event" changed things up for Fortnite.

However, this missile is designed for intercontinental use and may not actually be carrying a nuclear warhead. Instead, during the most recent ARG, there was a brief animation that showed a missile being detonated over a body of water with the word "Nova" popping up before the animation stopped. This, of course, is a reference to the Nova gas that was introduced in Black Ops 1—the same gas is at the center of the conflict in season one. It should be noted, though, that the animation didn't appear to match the shoreline of Verdansk as we know it.

Whatever ultimately happens with the missile in Verdansk, there is every indication that there will be changes to Warzone; we just don't know if that change will come in the form of a nuke or not.
