Bandai Namco and Toei Animation recently surprised Dragon Ball Z fans everywhere by announcing a brand new game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. The game has not yet been officially named, but is presumably going to be known as Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4. The announcement was made in the form of a trailer.

While the teaser doesn't provide much in the way of details, a TV playing footage from Dragon Ball Z can be seen before transitioning to an image of Goku turning Super Saiyan Blue. The words “get ready for battle” and “a new Budokai Tenkaichi begins” then appear.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 would mark the first new game in the series for well over a decade, the first three games coming out in 2005, 2006, and 2007. The latest entry was Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team, released for the PSP back in 2010.

What platforms in particular Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 will be available on remains unclear at this point, but fans are eagerly anticipating more official news from Bandai Namco and Toei Animation.

Some fans have been anxiously anticipating a sequel to the still popular Dragon Ball FighterZ, but the announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has still generated a substantial amount of excitement within the Dragon Ball Z community. Budokai Tenkaichi is known for its engaging gameplay, the series featuring an extensive roster of fighters. This upcoming entry promises to bring better graphics and most likely some new mechanics.
