This is the story of the latest Dungeons & Dragons adventure, where all of the proceeds from the sales go to the Extra Life charity program.
Infernal Machine is an adventure for a party between levels 5 and 10. A fallen clock tower has revealed the components of an ancient artifact, whose pieces are spread across time and space. It's up to the players to track down these pieces in order to keep them out of the hands of those who would abuse their power. The adventure includes two dungeons, new monsters, and new magic items.
All of the proceeds from Infernal Machine will be going to the Extra Life charity program. Extra Life has raised over fifty million dollars for sick children since 2008 through various gaming marathon events. The Extra Life program is part of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals charity, which is a non-profit organization that raises money for children's hospitals. Infernal Machine can be purchased from the Dungeon Masters Guild website for $9.99.
The Machine of Lum the Mad will be familiar to fans of the Baldur's Gate series, as the Bhaalspawn and their allies had a chance to interact with one of the machines in Watcher's Keep, which was only available to those who purchased the Throne of Bhaal expansion. The players who are willing to experiment with the different buttons within the machine can earn permanent stat upgrades, as well as potentially being destroyed where they stand.
Infernal Machine isn't the only Dungeons & Dragons product that is giving its proceeds to Extra Life, as the recent Infernal Font typeface will also benefit the charity program. The writing of devils and the machines of mad mages might cause havoc for player characters in Dungeons & Dragons, but they are helping people out in the real world.
