The next Heirloom to arrive in Apex Legends just might be for the latest character to hit the battle royale game.

Heirlooms are a big deal in Apex Legends, as any fan will attest. They’re the rarest, most exclusive rewards you can possibly find. Not every character has an heirloom, as only Wraith, Bloodhound, and Octane have been handed heirlooms in the form of the Kunai, Raven’s Bite, and Butterfly Knife, respectively.

Fans speculated that Respawn would hand out heirlooms to the rest of Apex Legends’ original cast members, but it looks like that might not be the case if this latest leak is to be believed.

According to Reddit user KralRindo, the next character to receive an heirloom will be the hacker boy himself, Crypto. In a post to the Apex Legends subreddit, KralRindo shows several file names that arrived with the latest update. In those files is something that reads "meleeknife_seq_02_0.seanim", which the video later shows to be a model animation with what looks like a knife.

According to Mr. Rindo, the knife is actually the Data Knife, and it is "100% for Crypto." He was less certain that the Data Knife would be the next heirloom to arrive in Apex Legends, but data miners haven't been able to find anything else that might qualify, so this seems to be the most likely thing.

Several Reddit users replied in the comments to point out that the Data Knife was in Titanfall 2, so these files might just be holdovers from Respawn's previous game. This seems unlikely given the length of time between the two titles, but it's certainly possible.

Many players also replied to point out how upset they were that Crypto would be the next character to get an Heirloom even though he's the second-youngest member of Apex Legends. Original characters are still awaiting their own Heirlooms, with Gibraltar mains up in arms over being passed up once again.

Of course, Respawn has yet to confirm or deny the report, so we'll have to wait until next season to know for sure.
