A company under Nintendo, NDcube, is currently hiring, which already suggests the development of new games. The brochure for hiring shows a bunch of games that have already been released, mostly made up of Mario games. But the most exciting part is that up in the left corner, a mystery game is featured. The bubble in the upper right corner displays text that reads, “Let’s make a game together,” confirming that this is a position specifically for developing a new game.

Considering both that the company’s largest game is Mario Party and that the entire right half of the brochure features Mario with a die block, it doesn’t seem like a huge stretch to guess that a new Mario Party is likely in the works.

That being said, the last Mario Party game, Super Mario Party, did not get the greatest reviews. Despite it having sold 12.10 million copies by September 2020, people were overall less than satisfied with the gameplay. This could be evidence against the possibility of yet another Mario Party, as people may be dissuaded to buy another after the last experience.

Because of this, others have speculated that a different game might be in the works—specifically F-Zero. F-Zero is a racing game that had been released on several of the older Nintendo systems, and it was popular back in the day. The basis for this suspicion comes from the producer of F-Zero GX, Toshihiro Nagoshi, who stated, “I must admit I have a lot of affection for F-Zero GX. If the opportunity were to present itself, I wouldn’t mind.” His comments in combination with the great reviews of F-Zero could suggest that NDcube would revisit this game.

It seems more likely to me that Mario Party will be the mystery game, given the brochure’s visuals, though. It would be great to get another Mario Party game that’s as good as Mario Party 2, debatably the best game in the series. Hopefully it won’t be long before Nintendo or NDcube confirms what this mystery game is going to be, and when it will be released.
