Nintendo recently aired a surprise Super Mario Direct in celebration of the series' 35th anniversary, during which it was announced that two new Super Mario games will be coming to Nintendo Switch in early 2021.

Although the Direct contains a variety of information about both Mario's history and future, perhaps one of the biggest announcements to come from it has to do with the fact that Super Mario 3D Worlds and Bowser's Fury are set to launch for Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2021. This wasn't the only announcement to have come from today's Direct, though. On top of the fact that Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury are due to launch in five months, it was announced that Super Mario All Stars - yes, the SNES game - is now available to play on Nintendo Switch Online.

There's also a new Mario Kart game launching next month. Mario Kart Live Home Circuit is a new kart racer that uses augmented reality to bring the hectic antics of Mario Kart right into your living room.

Mario Kart Live Home Circuit is set to launch on October 16, meaning that it's currently just over a month away.

All of this will come as a surprise to most, but respected industry insiders have been tweeting about the prospect of Super Mario news all morning.

Ahmad went on to ask, "What if there were more Mario games... next year? Including new ways to play."

As it turns out, both tweets were quickly proved true - Super Mario All Stars launches today, Mario Kart Live Home Circuit drops in just over a month, and both Super Mario 3D Worlds and Bowser's Fury are due to simultaneously launch for Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2021.

All in all, it's a pretty good day to be a Mario fan. Still no news of Super Mario Odyssey 2, though - hopefully we won't have to wait until the 40th anniversary for that.
