Many are incredibly wary about the upcoming 2021 Mortal Kombat movie. Frankly, the wariness is rightful given both the history of video game movies in general and the poorly-received 1995 Mortal Kombat film adaptation. Trying their hand at a movie adaptation once more, the cast and crew of the 2021 film took a photo displaying tons of enthusiasm just before the movie begins filming next week.

Indeed, a photo that has the entire cast and crew of the upcoming Mortal Kombat film has been released and it shows the very jovial crowd hanging out in a restaurant. Now that gamers know the cast of the Mortal Kombat reboot movie, it's fairly easy to spot the faces of the actors portraying the characters in the film, though the photo also includes some new faces as well, which may likely be the crew involved with the movie.

Some of the cast members include Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Hiroyuki Sonada as Scorpion, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, and Chin Han as Shang Tsung. The photo showing some of their faces and more can be seen below.

As can be seen in the photo above, posted by Reddit user NaeemLikeShady, the cast and crew seem prepared and ready for filming. On Reddit, the photo is captioned with "The cast of the 2021 Mortal Kombat met in Australia! Filming will begin next week."

While this likely comes as exciting news to many Mortal Kombat fans, there will still undoubtedly be those skeptical about the project. Hopefully, advances in technology and a somewhat-upward trend in the quality of video game movies, such as Detective Pikachu, will be enough to propel the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie past the first one's awful reception.

While the photo could, very well, be no indication of the movie's development so far, a happy crew signifies that things are looking up on set and that the Mortal Kombat movie may be in good hands. The movie is already R-rated and will include fatalities, so there is hope thus far. However, regardless of the crew's excitement, fans might be wise to be somewhat skeptical about the upcoming project.
