Niantic has released a new ad for Pokémon GO's incoming Buddy Adventure featuring a Squirtle so cute we want it to have all the berries it could ever want.

Pokémon GO will turn four during the summer of 2020, and in terms of its popularity the game shows no signs of slowing down. It might seem as if fewer people are hunting Pokémon in the real world since not everyone is playing it. It really did feel as if that was the case back in 2016. However, the world's most influential AR game is still as big today as it ever was.

Pokémon GO's developers have kept the game popular and relevant by constantly changing and adding to it. That has already been confirmed to be something that will continue into 2020 via the announcement of the game's Buddy Adventure feature. The addition of Buddy Adventure to Pokémon GO might well be the biggest and most ambitious change by Niantic to date.

Trainers have had Buddy Pokémon in Pokémon GO for a while. However, Buddy Adventure will allow players to influence the mood of their chosen buddy. The best way they can do that is by feeding them berries. Feed them enough berries and the Pokémon's mood will change to Good. When that happens, the Pokémon will walk alongside your avatar.

Once a Buddy Pokémon reaches the highest happiness level (excited) they will only have to walk half as far to earn a candy. As for how having your favorite Pokémon walk alongside you should make you feel, that's demonstrated in the latest ad for Buddy Adventure above. The young Pokémon fan has a soft toy Squirtle as a child and it seems as if the two of them are inseparable.

As an adult, the trainer is sort of reunited with his Squirtle thanks to Buddy Adventure. The Squirtle in the ad looks about as adorable as a Pokémon could possibly be, especially when shown affection by his trainer. Honestly, having a Squirtle walk alongside us on the screen is no longer good enough, we need someone to create a real-life Squirtle like the one in the ad who we can have follow us around at all times. Until then, Pokémon GO's Buddy Adventure will have to suffice, we guess.
