The latest trailer for the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie has dropped, showing off the main character's redesign following fan backlash.

To say reception to the first Sonic The Hedgehog trailer was negative would be an understatement. For months leading up to its debut, leaked images and poster hints were outraging fans who felt the movie's Sonic design was too... what? Leggy? Humanoid? It's hard to put a finger on exactly what the issue was, but everyone knew there was an issue.

Once the trailer was released and the wider world got their first look at the new Sonic, the fan backlash was too much to ignore. The movie's producers gave into the ridicule and opted to go with a redesign of the character. Now, we finally get to see if their redesign paid off.

As Sonic puts it himself, he's a "little ball of super energy in an extremely handsome package."

The trailer opens with a shot of Green Hill Zone, with Sonic running a classic loop de loop. Eventually, we get some hints at the story, including Sonic mentioning how, on his world, people kept trying to steal his power. So... does this mean that there is a Doctor Robotnik on Sonic's world, and in our world? Honestly, we're curious.

Sonic The Hedgehog is out on February 14th, 2020.
