The latest trailer for Weird West shows off its immersive gameplay, hand-drawn textures, and what happens when you murder a random NPC.

What do you get when you combine two former Arkane Studio executives, a writer for Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and subgenre of Western filmmaking that has cowboys fighting aliens and zombies? You get Weird West, the up and coming action RPM from WolfEye Studios and Devolver Digital.

Last night, we got to appreciate all that Devoler has to offer thanks to their Devolver Direct E3 replacement stream, showcasing games like Shadow Warrior 3 and Carrion. And at the end, we got a brand new trailer for Weird West that shows off some of the game's core mechanics and gives us a far better look at what we can expect from this ARPG.

Weird West is designed in a way that accommodates many playstyles and many playthroughs,” says WolfEye Studios co-founder Raphael Colantonio in the trailer commentary. “Whether you like combat or trickery or stealth or a mix of all of that, you’ll enjoy experimenting with the tools the game offers in a system-rich and physically-simulated world.”

You'll have five heroes to play through, each possessing fantastic abilities that lend them to one style of play over another. One turns into a fleet-of-foot werewolf, while another is a mystical shaman with magical powers. Or you could just be a cowboy with a six-shooter. That works too.

The game looks fantastic thanks to its hand-drawn textures and fully-3D environments. It's also got a dynamic world where every action has consequences. Kill an NPC and that NPC's friend will declare a vendetta against you that will lead to a future confrontation.

Also, there's no quick-saving and reloading in Weird West to take back your foolish mistakes. Deaths are permanent--whether they're your own or someone else's, so players will have to think before they pull the trigger.

Weird West plans to release sometime in 2021. Wishlist on Steam for updates on when it’ll arrive on PC.
