Bethesda has officially announced several balance changes for their first-person shooter Wolfenstein: Youngblood. While getting to gun down Nazis should be its own reward, these changes should make combat more satisfactory.

There have been multiple changes meant to reduce the feeling of enemy “bullet sponginess.” Several bosses, including General Winkler and all the Tower Gate Guardians, have been adjusted to better match the level of the surrounding enemies in the area. Likewise, Lothar has had his health and accuracy reduced during certain stages of the boss fight. The number of missiles during the fight were also reduced and the game now provides better warning for incoming jet planes, which should give the player a better chance to dodge or avoid damage. Damage has also been increased when using the wrong weapon against armored enemies, in order to keep enemies from feeling like they were absorbing too much damage.

In addition to reducing the difficulty of certain boss fights, the game also introduced a variety of other changes. These were mostly bug fixes and quality-of-life changes to improve various issues in the game.

Many of the bug fixes were minor fixes for glitches that prevented game progression, but one significant fix was an improvement to the player character’s sister AI in single-player mode. She now moves out of the way of large enemies, heals the player when they get downed in combat, and activates co-op levers. They also fixed a bug that let one player do significantly more damage with certain weapons in co-op mode. Other changes allowed players to turn off health bars on enemies and increased the damage of shotguns, autopistols, and SMGs to make them match with other basic weapons. In addition, players that expend all their lives will find themselves back at their latest checkpoint with their basic weapon ammo filled to 50%, which should prevent them from getting stuck at one certain part of the game without ammo.

It looks like the new update will make killing Nazis even more rewarding. So if you’ve been getting frustrated at boss fights in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, this might be the perfect time to get back on the fascist-shooting horse.
