New World's setting, the island of Aeternum, is massive. The game currently has no Mounts and walking from quest location to quest location is a classic MMO timesink. Thankfully, there is a fast travel system, and it gets better as you hit the higher levels.

This guide covers how to access fast travel and what is required to do so. You will need to level up, collect Azoth - the currency required to travel - and discover various shrines across the map.

How To Fast Travel In New World

There are a couple of different ways to fast travel in New World.

  • Using a Shrine - This is likely what you'll be doing most often since the "Respawn" option has been removed from the game.
  • Shrines are located across the map, but you will need to discover them before you can fast travel.
  • Recall To Inn - This option allows you to return to the Inn you've checked in at once every hour.
  • Camp Respawn - When you die, you are returned to your last camp. However, this has a 500m radius. You will respawn at the nearest town if you die outside the range of your camp.

Fast Travel Costs Azoth

Every time you fast travel in New World, it costs Azoth. Azoth is an in-game currency earned by completing quests and killing certain mobs.

Fast traveling to a town owned by your faction is much cheaper.

There is a cap on your Azoth during the early game. You can only hold up to 1,000 Azoth. Even so, you should use your fast traveling wisely so that you don't run out of Azoth.

How To Get Around The Map Quickly In New World

New World currently doesn't have a Mount system, although this has been discussed by the developers in various interviews over the past year or so.

Currently, the game focuses heavily on PvP. Characters on mounts can obviously get out of tight situations quickly, which reduces some of the fun of the open-world PvP in its current state.

As an alternative, you can use the Hatchet. The Berserker mastery tree includes passives that will increase your movement speed for a short while. This is why it features as one of the best weapons to level up fast in New World.
