You don't need us to tell you that New World has come under fire for its server wait times. Servers are capped at 2000 players, and there's just not enough of them to go around. The game has been getting review bombed by aggrieved players who desperately want to play the game, so a fix can't come soon enough.

However, while we wait around for the new servers that have been promised, crafty players have found their own way around the queues. It's simple: once you're in the game, you just never leave.

In a video shared to the New World subreddit, user TuSkiLLd stumbles across several players all in a row, aimlessly running into a wall. However, as others elaborated in the replies, players are likely doing this so they are not kicked for inactivity when they need to put the game down for a bit. Some are reporting wait times of over three hours, so it's understandable that they won't want to give up their spot for the sake of making a sandwich.

This very technical method of staying in the server while you leave your PC involves putting something heavy on the W key so you keep manually moving forward. Auto-run will apparently not count towards activity and will still get you kicked, as the game seemingly only takes physical key inputs into account.

While some are irritated that the servers are potentially full of people who are not actually playing, others are more sympathetic. They also explain that even if all the people who are AFK were to log out, it might not necessarily help the wait times. The players would come back and join the line all over again, keeping it ridiculously long.

However, given recent news, it may actually be wise to give the game a miss for a bit. Fresh reports of bricked GPUs have arisen following New World's launch, the developers are yet to respond. Last time the story made the rounds, it was suggested that a faulty batch of GPUs were to blame, but the timing of these latest reports does perfectly coincide with the game's launch.
