New World has a major focus on PvP and player guilds, so much so that most of the PvP endgame revolves around taking over territory across Aeternum. Companies, New World's version of guilds, can take over certain regions of the map to control and upgrade certain settlements and forts.

Upgrading these locations is done through the Town Projects system, allowing the Company to enhance the town's crafting stations or a fort's defenses. Partaking in Town Projects yourself is a surefire way to level faster and unlock higher-tier crafting stations sooner. We'll be going over what Town Projects are, why you should complete them, and what each project does.

What Are Town Projects?

New World Settlement

Town Projects are community quests that focus on upgrading a specific part of a settlement. Once a Town Project is begun, the settlement's Town Project Board will gain a set of quests that any player can partake in. Completing these quests will contribute progress towards the completion of the settlement's upgrade and grant your character a small chunk of XP.

All Town Projects must be signed off by a Governor or Consul of the Company that owns the settlement; no one else can start a Town Project. Companies can start any Town Project they see fit from the Territory Planning Board, located in the settlement's town hall. Completion of a Town Project will enhance the town in some capacity, improving crafting stations for settlements or the defensive capabilities of a fort. Companies can also enact an Improve Lifestyle Project, granting a three-day buff that enhances the quantity of harvested materials, combat traits, or the Gear Score of items you craft.

Note: Lifestyle Projects only impact those that own a house in that region.

As a Company improves a settlement, the rank of the settlement increases. The names of each rank are below:

Tier 1

Tier 2

The Best Town Board Quests

In general, the crafting and common resource quests are the most efficient. They require minimal farming and give a solid chunk of XP. With that said, pay attention to what type of item the quest is asking for. If it's asking for a semi-rare material like Lodestones or Silver, you might be better off waiting for the Town Project Board to reset. Explorer's Needed is seldom worth doing unless it's right next to another quest.
