New World's endgame content is made up of PvP, Dungeons, and PvE Arenas. These Arenas require Tuning Orbs to enter - these can be found via mob drops in certain areas, or crafted. These arenas give you loads of rewards and are definitely worth doing.

You'll need to get familiar with New World's crafting systems in order to make them. We'll be going over what Tuning Orbs are, every Tuning Orb in the game, and how you can craft each of them.

We had to change this guide significantly ahead of the Brimstone Sands update in October, 2022. This is because you no longer require Tuning Orbs to enter the Expeditions in the game (you can enter for free 25 times a day instead) but you still need them to enter the various endgame PvE Arenas.

What Are Tuning Orbs?

New World The Starstone Barrows Expedition Entrance

Tuning Orbs are keys that players can craft to access specific combat arenas throughout Aeternum. There three combat arenas. Unlocking each Tuning Orb recipe will require that you increase your Stonecutting skill. The higher your skill, the more types of Tuning Orbs you can craft.

When you enter an activity that requires a Tuning Orb, only one player in your party needs to sacrifice their orb. In theory, you can run a certain arena five times if each player uses one Tuning Orb, hence why many LFG posts in chat ask that you bring a Tuning Orb with you.

Arena Tuning Orb Drop Locations

New World Eternal Pool And Siren's Stand

As of the 1.4 update, you can now find Tuning Orbs as a loot drop from mobs in certain areas. These are: Forecastle Drift, Siren's Stand, Spires of Melpomene, Eternal Pool, and Malevolence. The chance of these orbs dropping is quite low, and over the past few weeks we have only acquired a single Tuning Orb from killing mobs in Siren's Stand on an Elite Chest run. However, the materials needed to craft Tuning Orbs for Arenas (like the Fancy Shell, or Glowing Swamp Moss) do drop quite frequently.
