The villagers of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are gearing up for some big end-of-the-year events. While the game’s annual Toy Day is just around the corner, it looks like Isabelle is more excited for what the new year will bring to the getaway island. In fact, players can decorate their islands with New Year’s Eve items that are now available in the game.

Everyone’s favorite assistant took to the Animal Crossing Twitter to share her thoughts on the New Year and to let players know about the New Year’s Eve goods waiting in the Nook Shop. While an itemized list of what exactly is available wasn’t provided, an accompanying image shows off some of the goods players can purchase to decorate for 2022. Plus, Isabelle revealed that the New Year’s Eve items will only be available until the end of the year while New Year’s items will stick around until January 5.

As for what items players can currently grab, Isabelle’s tweet gives a hint at what is available. The most obvious is a large celebratory arch of balloons emblazoned with “2022” on the front. These will be the perfect decoration to place in the doorway as you welcome guests to a New Year’s feast. Speaking of food, there seems to be a lot of new dishes available to adorn your table as you count down the hours until the new year.

All these festive items will come in handy if New Horizons continues its New Year’s Eve countdown event. Last year, with everyone still quarantined at home, New Horizons hosted a fun countdown party with exclusive rewards and limited-time activities for players to take part in. Of course, everyone will have to get through the game’s annual Toy Day celebrations first. Every Christmas, Animal Crossing celebrates Toy Day, a special festive event where players can collect items for themed furniture and décor. There is also the opportunity to meet the big visitor of Toy Day, Jingle.

It has been a big year for Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the game’s large 2.0 update and first-ever paid DLC. A fun New Year’s celebration seems the perfect way to cap things off.
