The latest faction that has been revealed for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 are the Newcomers, who welcome the academically minded to join their blood cult.

The Newcomers are run by Clan Tremere, which is the clan that has undergone the most changes since Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Clan Tremere was once a house of mages, but they stole the curse of vampirism in order to maintain their arcane mastery in a world where magic was fading away. In recent nights, Clan Tremere has been fractured into three warring factions, as their former headquarters were destroyed by the Second Inquisition, along with most of the high-ranking members of the clan.

The official website for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has revealed the Newcomers faction. The Newcomers operate out of the University district of Seattle as part of a deal with Prince Cross. The leader of the Newcomers is Professor Viktor Goga, who is open to allowing any talented Kindred to join the faction. Goga is attended to by a woman named Elif Parmak, who has been prominently featured in the existing gameplay footage of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.

It's mentioned that the Newcomers ranks have swelled of late, which suggests that they are affiliated with House Carna. In the new lore of Vampire: The Masquerade, Clan Tremere has fractured into three houses, one of which is led by a sorceress named Carna. It's Carna's belief that anyone with a passion for magic should be allowed to join the clan, which has included individuals who would have been restricted in the past. The increase in membership for the Newcomers faction could well be the result of following Carna's doctrine.

Clan Tremere has always been one of the most popular choices in both the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop game and in the original Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. The members of Clan Tremere are vampires with magical powers and their discipline of Blood Sorcery (formerly known as Thaumaturgy) was one of the best in the game, which has always made them an attractive choice. It seems that Paradox Interactive is also making them an easy choice in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, as the faction's nature of taking in the gifted and the talented is a stark contrast to the ruthless businessmen and bloodthirsty gangsters who make up the other ruling powers in Seattle. It remains to be seen if the Newcomers are everything they seem to be, as Clan Tremere could just be operating another one of its deadly pyramid schemes under the guise of a happy university life that never ends.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in March 2020.
