In an interview with Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price for the AIAS Game Maker's Notebook podcast, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford stated that the company is currently working on a new Brothers in Arms title. While conducted all the way back in April of 2021, the podcast was recently uploaded to YouTube and is now making the rounds due to the nature of the announcement.

During a discussion about Aliens: Colonial Marines, Pitchford explained how both Fox and Sega revealed the existence of the title before any contracts were signed. Likely linking that to the eventual failure of the title, Pitchford then explained how the company kept Borderlands 3 a secret until late in development. "I didn't even announce Borderlands 3 until it was in beta," Pitchford said.

Shifting into Brothers in Arms, Pitchford continues, "It sucks because I know there's a lot of people -we're working on another Brothers in Arms game- but I'm not saying shit until we have it. We have fans that really love that [series], but they're just going to have to suffer." That strategy certainly paid off for Borderlands, so it makes sense that Gearbox would want to stick with it for any upcoming games.

It has been many a year since we last heard of the Brothers in Arms series. While the final game in the series, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, released all the way back in 2008, the franchise has lived on through mobile titles that have completely flown under the radar. The last official mention of the franchise was during E3 2011 when Gearbox announced Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, an awkward mishmash of the series World War 2 tone of the previous titles with Borderlands-esque gameplay and sensibilities.
