The director of Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Akihiro Hino of Level-5 Inc. announced that the release date for Ni No Kuni II was pushed back to January 19th, 2018. Ni No Kuni II was originally scheduled to release in November of this year. However, Akihiro Hino explained that the delay is necessary in order to “deliver the full Ni No Kuni II experience” to fans.

Ni No Kuni II is the much anticipated sequel to Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The original game was a collaboration between Level-5 and the acclaimed Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli. Although Ni No Kuni II is not a collaboration like its predecessor, there is still a lot to be excited about.

Small delays like this one are not unheard of in the world of video games. In his announcement video Akihiro Hino explained that the extra time was needed in order create and refine a well crafted game. He was deeply apologetic about the delay. Akihiro Hino also went on to explain a small misunderstanding he inadvertently created during a recent interview at E3. He was asked about Ni No Kuni’s potential multiplayer content and misunderstood the question, leading fans to falsely believe there was a multiplayer mode. Akihiro Hino clarified that there is no online multiplayer in Ni No Kuni II. The developers behind Ni No Kuni II are dedicated to making a “deep and satisfying single player experience.” However, Ni No Kuni II players will receive online announcements for in game events.

Level-5 proudly showcased Ni No Kuni II at this year’s E3. It was well received by critics and audiences alike. Ni No Kuni II won 8 game awards and 9 nominations at E3 from North American, Latin American, and European media outlets. Akihiro Hino thanked both the fans and the media for their support and promised to continue working hard on the upcoming game. Assuming there are no more delays, Ni No Kuni II will launch early next year on the PlayStation 4 and PC. Pre-orders for the game are already available.
