Pokémon Go has been plagued by connectivity and technical issues since it first launched. The game barely worked throughout its initial release and still has problems to this day.

It seems that Pokémon Go fans will finally be receiving remunerations for the technical issues that have affected their experience with the game, as a court has ruled that Niantic owes money to the attendees of a disastrous outdoor event that happened in 2017.

A massive Pokémon Go outdoor event was held at Chicago Grant Park. Those who showed up to the event were given the chance to catch Lugia, who had been unavailable in the game up to that point.

The huge crowd caused major connectivity issues with the game, which meant that most players couldn't actually log into the game. This meant that over twenty-thousand people were stuck standing around in a field and unable to play Pokémon Go.

Niantic responded by refunding all of the ticket prices for the event. This wasn't enough for some, which resulted in lawsuits against the company. Niantic also offered everyone one-hundred dollars in Pokémon Go currency.

A Chicago court has ruled that Niantic has to pay over a million dollars to those attendees to the event who can prove that they went to extra expense in order to attend the event, which includes covering costs like hotel and travel.

In order to claim money back from Niantic, you will need to prove that you checked-in to the event and will need receipts for all of the additional costs you incurred in order to make it there.

Niantic hasn't done much to oppose this ruling and the company has been apologetic about the event since it happened. A million dollars is chump change to a company that made an estimated six hundred million dollars within a few months of the launch of Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go is no longer the cultural phenomenon that it was when it first launched. There is still a huge audience for the game and Niantic are doing their best to try and keep them satisfied, in order to maintain the fanbase for Pokémon Go for as long as possible.
