Nick Offerman, best known for his role as macho man libertarian Ron Swanson on Parks and Rec and now Bill in The Last of Us, revealed on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel that the last video game he played was Banjo-Kazooie. He said he "lost two weeks" to it and believes since video games have improved over the years, he'd be even more obsessed now.
Offerman just starred in episode three of HBO's The Last of Us, playing Bill. This bottle episode deviated from the game the most, giving us a beautiful insight into the lives of Bill and his lover, Frank. The episode has been highly praised for the in-depth love story it portrayed, giving us a break from the bleakness of the show's world, but breaking our hearts regardless.
As seen on ResetEra, Offerman said, "25 years ago I played my last video game. I'm very indulgent. I lost a couple weeks to a video game called Banjo Kazooie. I was like, 'Oh my God, the slow dopamine drip is so delicious.' Then it's over and you're like, 'Yes! I won!' And immediately I'm like, 'What have I done with my life?' So I decided I'm never gonna do that again."
We've all been there. It's 3am and we've finally beaten the game we started the second we woke up, only to be met with the void of now having nothing to wake up excited for. Nick Offerman is a gamer, we got him.
He goes on to say, "Games have gotten so good that I think I'd be in a basement and wouldn't even be going to audition for shows like this." It's a good thing he kicked the controller to the curb, as he wasn't the first choice for Bill, so he really did need to make sure he was available for the part when he was called up.
