Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will launch on October 5, 2021, according to its Nintendo eShop listing.

When it comes to fighting games, there's nothing quite as fun as pitting some of your favorite characters from different series against each other. Nintendo has afforded players the opportunity to do that via Super Smash Bros. for decades. Later this year, Ludosity will add an alternative into the mix exclusively for some of Nickelodeon's most famous faces.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was announced earlier this year and features a number of recognizable characters from various animated Nick shows. Its roster includes Nigel Thornberry, SpongeBob Squarepants, and Reptar. Not to mention April O'Neil and CatDog who were officially added to the growing roster during Gamescom. The only thing missing was a release date, although the game's Nintendo eShop listing may have given the game away early on that one.

The listing has All-Star Brawl arriving on October 5, 2021, which means those waiting for the game only have a little more than a month left to go. It also reveals the game's file size, at least on Switch, is a somewhat minuscule 2.9GB. For comparison, the upcoming Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes will be 10GB each, while Smash Ultimate's is a hefty 16.7GB. It's unclear how much the game's size will differ on other platforms.

It's also unclear whether All-Star Brawl will launch on all platforms at the same time, although it seems unlikely that it wouldn't. It will also be available on both current and last-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as PC. 16 fighters and 20 levels have been revealed so far, but it seems likely that more will be added at a later date, perhaps even before the game launches a little more than a month from now.

This year is the 30th anniversary of Nicktoons, an era for the network that was ushered in by iconic cartoons such as Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, and Doug. All three of those OG shows will be represented in All-Star Brawl, though if you're hoping for Tommy and the gang to be added as fighters you might be disappointed. Using Danny Phantom to beat up a bunch of babies doesn't quite sit right, even if it is animated and all in good fun.
