Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is getting a second wind, with much-requested features on the way next year. This includes new characters, stages, crossplay, and at long last, voice acting.

The news was confirmed by Nick Brawl developer Thaddeus Crews over on the official Discord, outlining what we can expect from upcoming updates. In the near future, we'll be getting another free DLC fighter "pretty soon", with crossplay set to go live in early 2022.

While there's no confirmed timeframe for the rest of the announced features, it at least indicates that ongoing development is going strong. Crews says that there are a "bunch of characters and stages in the works right now", and strongly hinted that voice acting will finally be added to the game soon.

"We've been HEARING your requests, and we'll make sure you'll be HEARING from us soon", says Crews as he closes off the announcement. Considering the subtlety (or lack thereof) deployed to hint that Garlfied is coming to the platform brawler, this is almost definitely confirmation that voice acting will be added to the game at long last.

The lack of dialogue was a major point of contention at launch. Platform fighters such as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl are best known for shoving a bunch of references to the source material wherever they can - so not bringing on the iconic voice cast from the shows was seen as a major misstep.

Despite that, the actual gameplay was praised pretty heavily, especially by fans of the fighting game genre. Nick Brawl is surprisingly competitive, featuring tech such as wavedashing and dashdancing often only deployed in competitive play. Fans of Super Smash. Bros Melee in particular have gravitated towards the title, seeing it as a good break from the more casual focussed Smash Bros. Ultimate. With any luck, the inclusion of more stages, fighters, and references to the original shows will bridge the gap between pros and casuals, expanding the playerbase further and giving the game a second chance to impress.
