Nick Jr. is a version of Nickelodeon for the really little kids. They'll learn new words, new animals, how to make friends, how to be kind, and all sorts of fun new things. Some Nick Jr. shows mean a lot to many people, such as Dora the Explorer or LazyTown. I know adults who'll still reflect fondly on these shows today. That's why some of these memes are really going to mess with you!

I missed the demographic for most of these shows but watched them with my younger brother, my experience blurred behind the cynicism and realities of the big wide world. My experiences with these shows often resulted in sarcasm and confusion. Even when I was small, my long-standing fear of personified inanimate objects made it hard to watch these programs, as the big rule for children's TV seems to be that everything is more fun if it has eyes on it and can speak. Why should Dora just have a backpack, when she can have an alive backpack?

But cynicism aside, I'm really happy that others could enjoy these shows when I can't. It's great that they mean something to some people. A lot of these shows are still shown on television today, so the new generation of sprog can still get that wonderful experience you had at their age. That being said, here are several memes that are sure to ruin your precious childhood memories! Enjoy!

25 Muddy Consequences

via imgflip.com

It's fun to jump in muddy puddles, right kids? Until you come back inside and get yelled at for being so stupid and deliberately getting dirty!

In all seriousness, what is the appeal of jumping in mud? Sure, jumping in water is fun, but mud just gets everywhere and feels gross! You're gross, Peppa!

I'm not going to bully this show for poor life lessons. Your sprog probably aren't going to get trench foot for jumping in muddy puddles. This is just exaggeration done for the laughs. But it is weird that they don't wear socks if they wear normal clothes and have boots on! Maybe trench foot is extreme, but they're going to end up with blisters and sore skin on their feet or ankles.

24 Say It Louder!

via memecenter.com

Ah, Dora. Teaching your kids Spanish and encouraging them to be adventurous since 2000, despite still being about six!

I particularly like this one, as when watching Dora with my younger brother, he rarely shouted at the screen. This meant Dora waited there in eerie silence until finally praising “Good job!” I'm sure to many children, Dora's praise meant the world to them. They clapped their hands with glee when Dora revealed that she "liked that part too." But it's about time the reality of the situation hit you. Dora wasn't listening to you. She responds the same way to eerie silence as she did to your enthusiastic replies.

I also like the idea of a young child giving a long explanation of their favorite part, only to be interrupted by Dora. Rude.

23 Sewiously Stupid

I'm pretty sure my forty-five-year-old mother still watches Wonder Pets. Again, this was something my little brother started watching, but for some reason she really enjoyed it. She even had a picture of them as her laptop background for some time. I guess they were kind of cute! They're little fluffy animals after all (except for the turtle, but that's a different kind of cute).

But their adventures did lie heavily on the phone not ringing until after school had finished for the day. And only one animal being in trouble at a time. It relies on that animal (mostly) being a cute baby animal like themselves. And being close enough for them to fly to in their boat in the same amount of time each episode.

Ming-Ming's catchphrase has made some good memes. Why wouldn't it? She's cute!

22 The Future Yardigans

via pinterest.com

I've seen this meme a couple times now, and it still makes me laugh. While I'm sure that the creators of Dragon Ball live a life completely separate from the Backyardigans, I can't help but think, the more I look at this, that the similarities are more than coincidences. It just seems too good at times to be an accident!

The Backyardigans was quite a cute show and sometimes made me laugh as an older kid. I felt like there were a lot of jokes in there for an older audience. They weren't rude jokes or anything, just more complex jokes or references for parents or older siblings.

With such wild an endless imaginations, these kids were bound to grow up into something great. Like strong and powerful super villains!

21 Max's Look

via deviantart.com

Max and Ruby was a pretty good show as I think it worked well for both very small children and slightly older children. It wasn't just about a younger sibling with a bossy older sibling, or an older sibling with an annoying younger sibling, like most kids' shows are. It was about both siblings and how they affected each other's lives. Some episodes were about Max not respecting his sister's boundaries or pushing her limits. Others were about Ruby babying Max or controlling him. I liked that about the show! That being said, whenever Max got this look in his eyes, I felt a little creeped out. That look is the look of both a maniac and someone thinking bad thoughts. It was just a little weird!

20 Bob's New Project

via pinterest.com

I think the best way for us to try and make it through the politically disastrous world we now live in is to laugh at it. And one way to do that is through memes like this one. Don't worry, Bob wouldn't take part in this project, even if a builder with talking self-operating machinery is the only way that project could begin.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be hard for Bob. He'd have to get permission and buy up all the land that makes up the border, as well as demolishing all the houses on the border. Plus he'd have to find someone to cover all his clients in Sunflower Valley for the next ten years. And find the motivation to do it since it wouldn't stop immigration in the slightest as planes will still be able to fly over it...

19 Future Peppa

via tumblr.com

The “feel old yet” memes just seem to get darker and darker.

Pigs were my favorite animals when I was younger, and it was a pretty scary time for me when I realized where bacon came from! Really creepy. I'm sure many people still watch the happy go lucky Peppa, clap their hands in joy, then go off to eat their bacon sandwiches.

But don't worry, Peppa's probably fine. She probably just lives happily in animated pig world where no one is ever hurt or gets turned into bacon. Let's just hope she never finds her way into our world, where pigs are kept in dark cages and not given any room to move before they're sent to be cooked. You keep on jumping in those muddy puddles, Peppa.

18 Scumbag Blue

via quickmeme.com

A new twist to the Scumbag Steve meme that you probably didn't need to see. Unlike Dora the Explorer, Blue's Clues at least had some children's voices who would call something out, encouraging the children at home to speak as well, but not leaving Steve in the same bizarre silence. While this worked better, in my opinion, it also made Steve look like he had terrible hearing! The children would call out quite clearly, so everyone else could hear where the clue was, but Steve would always hear something else entirely.

Also, I know it's just a kids show, but Steve deliberately looking everywhere but where the clue was can't be chalked down to blindness or stupidity. He just looked like a massive troll! Screw you, Steve!

17 Dora's Issues

via dumpaday.com

Which leads me perfectly to my next rant about Dora. The whole “is it over there” sequence probably was lost on me, being from a family who was too darn boring to yell stuff at the television (except during sports times), but if Dora just turned her head slightly to the left then she'd see exactly what she was looking for instead of having to ask the children at home!

Dora is a very smart young girl, being multilingual and knowing the names of many different places, animals, and plants. And she's able to read a map so clearly when kids these days just look at their phones. But a little more common sense or spacial awareness and her adventures would encounter fewer mishaps!

16 Frodo's Dance

via memecenter.com

One Does Not Simply memes don't get more perfect than this. I've come to find that there is a Boromir meme for pretty much every scenario. And they're delightful!

Yo Gabba Gabba is a show that did not enter my radar until after the South Park episode. Seriously, a little while after that I saw a video with some of the characters and couldn't believe that this was a real show! It looked like one of those kids' shows where the creators just sat in a room throwing out the most random and bizarre things they could think of. But I guess if Elijah Wood was on it, then it must be at least a little more awesome than I gave it credit for. I saw this clip and it's actually adorable.

15 Oobi's Always With You

via me.me

As much as I can criticise shows like Yo Gabba Gabba for being random and a little weird, there will always be shows like Oobi out there to raise the randomness and the creepy up to that next level. Sure there have been plenty of creepy children's characters out there, particularly puppets and people in costumes. In a world with characters like Mr. Blobby, Nobody from Sesame Street, and Nosey Blankets, it seems ambitious to call out Oobi for its weirdness. For those of you who don't know, Oobi was about a town populated by human hands with eyes stuck on them!

But memes like this show how bizarre and creepy this hand-puppet show got. Then again, Oobi did have a charming simplicity that made kids laugh.

14 BubbySass

via deviantart.com

Sometimes a kids' show meme just comes about because of the sassy expressions these characters can give. Something about this just works perfectly!

Bubble Guppies was a Nick Jr. show featuring a group of young Merpeople who went to preschool in their underwater city of Bubbletucky. While filled with some random fish puns, I personally think it's really well animated and quite pleasant to look at. As this meme demonstrates! You could only pull that kind of detailed expression from a well-animated show. Kids show have been pushed under the rug over the years and don't often get the same budget as adult programming. While things have changed a lot now from when I was younger, I still admire shows like Bubble Guppies for their detailed animations.

13 Cook By The Book

via memecenter.com

While there is a lot to make fun when looking at LazyTown, with its exaggerated costumes and slightly creepy puppets (even though all puppets could be described as slightly creepy), I like the message behind it. Magnús Scheving (Sporticus) conceived LazyTown after realizing that there weren't any role models for children that promoted exercise and healthy eating. So many adults I know still like to play the LazyTown songs and show a love for this show.

But from continued adult love for a kids show, comes memes like this. I'm sure no one needed to see Bryan Cranston Photoshopped onto Stephanie's face, but it did make me laugh. It'll probably be a long time until I can look at Stephanie again though. Sorry.

12 Peppered Show

via pinterest.com

Yeah, the vegetarian hasn't stopped ruining Peppa for you just yet.

I'm not sure where the name Peppa came from, but after seeing this meme, Peppa Pig sounds like a parody of this pork dish. Next time I'm in a restaurant and see this on the menu, I'll probably think of this meme. If the creators of Peppa Pig didn't name the title character for this pun, then I think it's weird that no-one involved in this show pointed this one out. I think they all need to take a long hard look at themselves!

So next time your eating peppered pig, you look down at your plate and you think about how much the pig would have enjoyed jumping in muddy puddles. They can't jump anymore, can they?

11 Older Bear

onsizzle.com

I told you “this is them now” memes were getting creepier. This is about as creepy as it gets.

You remember that cute little bear who lived in that wonderful woodland world with all those other talking animals and that one little girl? Well, this is him now!

Okay, so not necessarily, as it is just a meme. But if you start to think about deforestation and how many forests have been demolished in the last few years, all the pollution and animal endangerment that our planet has gone through since Little Bear's time, the future of these characters is questionable at best. We have no clue where Little Bear went after his home was most definitely destroyed. Maybe he got a job at a Children's restaurant...

10 Backyard Squad

via pinterest.com

Is there any future of the Backyardigans that shows them living happy, successful lives? This one isn't quite as funny as the Dragon Ball meme, with a less striking similarity, it's still pretty great.

When you look at the plastic smiles of these happy go lucky creatures, you might not see the villainous ideas forming in those still growing brains. But apparently, everyone on the internet is convinced they're there. Some of those adventures get a little dark at times and when you're playing pretend, someone has to be the villain right? While other children aren't always thrilled to be in that position, that yard creatures never seemed to protest. That's all I'm saying.

I am enjoying deciding who would be who. It's changed every time.

9 Unsupervised Fun

via deviantart.com

This isn't something exclusive to Max and Ruby, as it props up in a lot of children's shows. A lot of Nick Jr shows include parents, making it a little odd when you find a show without them. Especially as it's normally the kids who wander off on their own on a regular basis whose parents don't ever appear onscreen.

Ruby and her younger brother Man often went on adventures without supervision, and most of the time it didn't feel like places small children should go alone. I know that these days people can get overprotective about their children. I heard about a couple who moved to America and let their children walk to their school down the road alone only for someone to call the police!

I'm sure the bunny parents are fine, but it would have been nice to know.

8 Miss Blue

via: memecenter.com

I know so many people who somehow don't know that Blue was a girl! I barely watched the show when I was younger, even being slightly scared of it, but even I knew that Blue was a girl. Blue is referred to with female pronouns during the show, which should be enough to make things clear, but for some reason, Steve Burns still has to explain in interviews that Blue is a girl!

Let's be honest, this has to come from the idea that blue is for boys and pink is that girls. People see that Blue is, well, blue and they assume that she is a boy dog. That, and maybe Blue being the title and the main character of the show would make people think that she was male, given that that's often the case.

But also, she's a dog and dogs have no concept of gender.

7 Bob's New Look

via: deviantart.com

There is nothing that will make you feel older than seeing what Bob the Builder looks like now. I don't know why, but there is something rather insulting about seeing your old childhood shows revived, with new looks. Seeing Bob like this not only makes me feel old but also makes me a little angry. I don't know why. I didn't make the show or was involved in the process in any way. And the reboot doesn't affect the old episodes. I could still go watch them if I felt the need.

But look at him! That detailed, realistic face with those brown eyes that are no longer empty black holes.... it's evil.

Look at what Bob looks like now and feel old! Feel old, I say!

6 The Bubble Whats?

via deviantart.com

I guess this would be really insulting to fans of Bubble Guppies. While most of the entries on this list are insulting or make the shows seem creepy in an attempt to ruin your childhood, at least they show pictures of the characters and make you nostalgic, possibly influencing people to go and research the show if they haven't seen it, or go and rewatch an old favourite. In this one, we don't even get to see the fish mutants.

But this one does raise a few questions. They could just be merchildren. It's an animated kids' show; anything is possible. They look happy enough! Then again the guppies that are shirtless don't have basic anatomy. Even King Triton had them, and that was Disney!
