Nier: Automata has only grown in popularity since its release in 2017. The game benefits from an amazing score, incredible narrative and most of all, a great cast of characters. None of them have gained as much traction among the fan base as 2B has. 2B was an instant favorite, and it didn’t take long for her to become one of the most popular protagonists in modern gaming.

ねこつき tries their hand at recreating the scene and it looks absolutely perfect. Their attention to detail is a big reason why this stands out so much. But also note how nicely drawn the background is as well. All in all, it’s a great way to pay homage to the game.
9 Sad Goodbye - 時任 奏
One interesting thing about Androids is that a lot of them have their eyes covered. This is explained through the game’s lore, and is also done for thematic reasons, but it makes seeing them without those accessories all the more impactful.
時任 奏 does a beautiful job with capturing the emotion on 2B’s face here, and her eyes are a big part of what makes this scene so captivating.
8 Battle Mode – ScarJ
Nier: Automata’s gameplay can be pretty hectic at times – especially when it goes into those bullet hell segments – but it’s ultimately a big part of why the game’s so popular.
ScarJ highlights that with their fan art. We see 2B mid battle, and the sequence really stands out. The artist has a good eye for detail, and really nails the energy of the game with this one.
7 Means Business - moze
2B is usually pretty calm and collected, so you wouldn’t expect her to lose her cool that often. But when she does, she means business. She’s always dangerous, but it’s those rare emotional outbursts that make her character – as well as so many others in the game – so interesting.

6 The End of The World - ねこれいと
Atmosphere plays a big part in what made Nier: Automata such a great title. Having ancient ruins that look like contemporary society makes for an interesting setting, and they’re always fun to explore.

5 Out In The Field - BBチャック
Pods are something you see a lot playing through the game. They follow you everywhere, and each has their own specialty. They’re incredibly useful and have become instantly recognizable. This fan art adds a little more character to them.
BBチャック goes for a more light-hearted, cartoonish look here. It’s a great take on these two, and the slightly laidback attitude they both have is pretty refreshing to see.
4 Fresh Tea - Gowther Lust
2B isn’t the most outspoken protagonist out there. In fact, she’s pretty level-headed and carries herself completely differently than the way 9S does. Fans certainly see her as a much more composed character.
Gowther Lust plays off of that and draws a very elegant looking 2B here. The artists style certainly shines through, and you really get a feel for what they were going for. he art is spot on, as is the character representation.
3 A Close Bond – hydrangea
The bond that 2B and 9S share is one of the game’s driving forces. Their dynamic is a big part of setting the overall tone for the game, and their polar opposite personalities complement each other perfectly.
hydrangea does a nice job of capturing that here with their fan art. The colors are beautiful, and the artist’s style really shines through with their work. It's a very intimate looking picture and it all comes together very nicely.
