In Nier Replicant, you'll find yourself needing to catch a variety of fish in order to complete different quests. The most important quests that require you to catch different types of fish is the "Fisherman's Gambit" quest chain, which improves your fishing skill each time you complete a quest. With a better fishing skill, you are then able to catch a wider variety of fish from different locations.
In order to complete the last quest in the series, "The Fisherman's Final Gambit", you will need to catch a Hyneria. We've got all the information you need about how and where to catch this rare fish right here.
Where to Find a Hyneria
Firstly, you need to have completed the previous eight "Fisherman's Gambit" quests in order to have a fishing skill high enough to catch a Hyneria. We have a complete walkthrough of these quests right here.
By the time the old man asks you to catch a Hyneria as part of "The Fisherman's Final Gambit", your fishing skill will be good enough to catch one, but it still won't be easy. It's also a rare catch, so you might be fishing for a while before you even encounter one.
You can find Hyneria by fishing in the Desert near the fast-travel boat (in the location shown above). You need to use sardines as bait, so make sure you bring plenty with you. You can always save before fishing, then simply reload and regain all your bait if you have been unlucky in catching a Hyneria.
This will be a tough catch, so prepare yourself for a long battle and make sure you keep your line in the right position to be depleting the fish's health bar as best you can. If you need fishing tips, you can refer to our Complete Fishing Guide.
