Nier Reincarnation isn't out just yet for players outside of Japan, but the Japanese launch is going ahead with updates that give us a peak at what we may can expect. This morning, in a live stream via YouTube, Square Enix announced it would introduce the world of Nier Replicant to Reincarnation in a crossover event beginning March 31.

Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., a remake of the original game, is out on April 24, but Square Enix is already giving some of you new ways to enjoy the cast of familiar faces. Nier, Kaine, and Emil will all join the cast of Nier Reincarnation this month in Japan for a limited time event.

And while the trailer is mostly silhouttes of Replicant's beloved trio, there's still plenty of new gameplay footage showing Kaine, Emil, and Nier in action. You can check out the Japanese version now.

The live stream also showed off a few extra items and costumes that would be coming with the crossover event. But perhaps the coolest detail presented is this series of new outfits, with a version of Emil, Kaine, and Nier all sporting leather.

This isn't the first crossover event to involve Nier. Automata's cast actually launched with Nier Reincarnation in Japan, and mobile action RPG Punishing: Gray Raven also featured 2B, A2, and elements from Drakengard.

As for those of us outside of Japan, we'll still have to wait. Nier Reincarnation doesn't have an official release date just yet. However, after the game launched last month, in February, director Daichi Matsukawa promised fans the mobile game was still on the way. He apologized for the lack of communication from the team on an English version, but reassured those of you itching for new Nier content that everything was still moving along - noting that even the voice actors for Reincarnation have been recorded in English.
