Reboot Vans have finally arrived on Fortnite Island and Ninja believes the addition might well be the key to saving the game.
Fortnite has been the undisputed king of the battle royale genre for a while now. That was until the arrival of Apex Legends earlier this year. Respawn Entertainment's take on what a battle royale game should be like piqued the interest of a lot of players who were beginning to grow tired of Fortnite. That understandably forced Epic to spring into action and learn from its new rival.
One of the ways in which it has learned from Apex is to employ its very own method of respawning. You'd have thought that the ability for a player to respawn would go against everything the battle royale dynamic stands for. In a single player mode, maybe. But when you have a squad of players, it actually makes sense. Fortnite has officially introduced a respawn feature to Squads this week via its Reboot Vans.
The premise of Reboot Vans is simple. When one of your squad members is eliminated, they'll drop a Reboot Card. Take that Reboot Card to a Reboot Van and your buddy will get a second chance. Popular Fortnite streamer Ninja recently gave the new addition a whirl and as you can see below, he's a big fan.
Reboot Van's save fortnite?! Definitely a step In the right direction I enjoyed the gameplay so much https://t.co/MVtXIvjWen— Ninja (@Ninja) April 11, 2019
While the reaction of one guy might not seem like a big deal to some, it will be a promising sign for Epic. Ever since the v8.20 update was rolled out, Ninja has spoken out about the issues that came along with it. Other streamers have also voiced their concerns and when the leaders are displeased, it's highly likely that the masses will follow. Epic will be hoping the rest of the Fortnite community will share in Ninja's jubilation when it comes to Reboot Vans.
Although Fortnite is tweaked and updated regularly, the introduction of Reboot Vans is one of the biggest changes the game has seen for a while. A change this major will ultimately completely alter the way in which players go about gameplay in Squads. There might be some things to iron out when it comes to Fortnite's respawn system, it's so far so good.
