Recently Microsoft announced that their streaming platform Mixer was no longer going to be supported and was being merged with Facebook Gaming. The news blindsided many streamers whose careers are housed entirely on Mixer with little to no presence elsewhere.

Ninja, formerly the unofficial poster child for the platform, dropped in on some of his fellow streamers to offer support in face of the shutdown.

According to Gamebyte, Ninja sympathized with many of those left stunned by the news as he too was affected by the announcement. While Ninja can comfortably transition to Facebook Gaming or even Twitch thanks to his large audience and Microsoft buyouts, he recognized others would struggle to make the switch and were likely depressed by the news.

Ninja, along with his wife Jessica Blevins, dropped in on a few streams to show support and give donations. S0apys was one of the streamers visited and received a $200 donation that caused her to burst into tears.

On Twitter she shared that she would often put in 40 to 60 hours a week in between a part-time job and studies to build her channel. The change with Mixer effective “wiped out”’ her hard work and left her “devastated”. She thanked Jessica and Ninja for the donation and putting a smile on her face in spite of the bad news.

S0apys is just one example of some of the streamers that were genuinely touched by the generosity and support Ninja and his wife showed shortly after the news about Mixer broke. While many of the streamers will be able to pull themselves back up and migrate to other platforms over time, it was likely a dark time for many. Though they can't fix the problems caused by Mixer's shutdown, this kindness from Ninja and Jessica brought a little bit of light to some of those affected.
