Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a first-person dungeon crawler in the same vein as the Etrian Odyssey series. The game unites the SEES members from Persona 3, the Investigation Team from Persona 4, the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5, and the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable into a single game, as they have to escape from an extradimensional movie theater.
In order to return home, the three Persona teams must unite and enter movies in order to battle the monsters that they meet there. Each movie is a twisting labyrinth filled with foes to slay and puzzles to solve, which means that the player needs to choose the right five characters to bring with them into the dungeon. The ability to summon a Persona can give the playable characters an edge over their foes, but resources are limited and magic can only be relied upon so much before it runs out, leaving the player defenseless against the beasts that roam the labyrinth.
The fact that Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is the last Nintendo 3DS game is funny because it's a crossover title with characters from three PlayStation-exclusive games. Persona 3 and Persona 4 were released on the PlayStation 2, Persona 3 Portable was released for the PlayStation Portable, Persona 4 Golden was released for the PlayStation Vita, and Persona 5 was released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
The casts of Persona 3 and Persona 4 have appeared in the original Persona Q and Joker is a DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There is also Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, which will be released on the Nintendo Switch in the future, but the three character rosters in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth are still associated with PlayStation games.
The Nintendo 3DS had an incredible run and it helped to keep Nintendo relevant during the Wii U years, so a game like Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a great title to end the system's run.
Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is available now for the Nintendo 3DS.
