There are so many video games out there. The classics. The big blockbusters. The hidden indie titles. Of all of these though, there is undoubtedly going to be overlap - or in these specific cases, games that are straight-up unquestionable carbon copies of other games. That's right, it's time to call out these very real things that you can't argue against because the evidence is all there.

Ever heard of Nintendo? A big ol' game company that we all know and love, but perhaps that will all change today. I have discovered these classics from the gargantuan tech company that are very blatantly copying other games, proving that Nintendo has never come up with an original idea. It might be hard to believe, but oh it's real. So real.

5 Super Metroid - Hollow Knight

I mean, come on. Hollow Knight is a massive and mysterious world full of depth, lore, and so many cool and interesting mechanics. Explore, unlock new abilities, backtrack, and find all the secrets you can as you discover just what is really going on in the fallen kingdom.

And then, Nintendo comes along and releases a game called Super Metroid. Don't be fooled by the setting, as this game takes so much of the structure and features from Hollow Knight. It's honestly such a shame when you realize that, it's so disappointing.

Hollow Knight is literally a Metroidvania - you can't just take half of the name and call it your own game. For shame, Nintendo, for shame.

4 Animal Crossing: Wild World - Battlefield 2: Bad Company

Do I even need to point out the comparisons here? You can see it for yourself, clearly.

Aside from the almost identical cover art for the games, the whole premise of Animal Crossing: Wild World is basically just the same plot as Battlefield 2: Bad Company, only slightly reworded. How Nintendo got away with such a thing, I'll never understand. It's a Wild World indeed.

3 Super Smash Bros. Melee - Dream Daddy

Do you know how many dream daddies there are in Super Smash Bros.? Too many for it to be a coincidence, that's how many.

Dream Daddy is, of course, a dating sim full of so many glorious father figures that you can date. An original idea that was a big hit in the indie scene, and made waves in the industry. Then some game by Nintendo called Super Smash Bros. Melee comes along, clearly and unabashedly trying to take that crown.

With Nintendo being such a big name, it overshadowed Dream Daddy to no end. Now this game is on the front page of Google with all of these dream daddies smashing, while Dream Daddy is left in the dark once again.

2 Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life

The Yakuza games are known for their eccentric nature and emotional stories, with the mainline series following the life of Kazuma Kiryu. Yakuza 6 was the last entry to feature Kiryu as the main protagonist, and so of course the story had spent years building up to this point.

But why spend years working towards something when you could just copy it? Enter stage left: Nintendo. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time takes every aspect of Yakuza 6 and says "what if the same but boy in green?". Now you could play Ocarina of Time immediately after Yakuza 5 and you wouldn't even notice the switch. Well, Nintendo, I hope you are proud of yourself.

1 Super Mario 64 - Elden Ring

With a game as big as Elden Ring, it was only a matter of time before games began to try their own hand at the formula. With a huge world to explore and so many secrets to uncover, bosses to fight, and deep involvement with the monarchy of the kingdom, it was an ambitious task that was, unfortunately, going to be replicated to a lesser degree.

And so then comes Super Mario 64, with an even bigger world, twice as many secrets, and so many bosses it could make FromSoftware blush. There was barely any attempt here to make a distinction between the two, as you could look at screenshots from one game and be entirely convinced it was from the other, and vice versa.

Some people even suspect Super Mario 64 uses many of Elden Ring's assets in some locations, and it's almost undeniable. Nintendo can't keep getting away with this, it's honestly unacceptable at this point.

Don't even get me started on Kirby and how the games are just Persona copies...
