Nintendo Dominates A List Of Japan's 100 Favorite Console Games Of All Time

‘Tis the season for websites and media networks to start posting lists to close out the year, and Japan is no exception. Japanese cable TV network TV Asahi recently ran a show where they asked 50,000 viewers what their favorite game of all time was. The broadcast was appropriately called “50,000 Users Vote: The TV Game National Poll.”

The results of that poll were posted yesterday courtesy of Gamestalk.net (via NintendoLife), and perhaps unsurprisingly, Nintendo dominated the list. Four out of the top ten games were Nintendo, and that ratio was consistently maintained even as you go through the full 100 games.

Breath of the Wild took the top spot, followed by Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride and then Final Fantasy 7 (no word on whether this includes Remake or not). Animal Crossing: New Horizons took fourth place, while Splatoon 2 took fifth.

Undertale clocked in at 13, which is the highest of any indie game on this list. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was the best Metal Gear game at 18, and Minecraft, the biggest game in the world by sales, clocked in at number 20.

Our first Pokemon Game was Diamond and Pearl at 11 (again, no word on whether this includes the remakes), our first Mario game was Super Mario 3 at number 10, and Ghost of Tsushima proved popular enough to come in at 66.
