The next Mario game to be released is Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch. With its release coming up next month, Nintendo has unveiled a few new trailers. The first trailer, in Japanese, is an overview trailer. Although one won't understand the narration (unless he/she knows the Japanese language), it is easy to follow along. It also showcases brand new story elements. Those just wanting to learn about the story will be interested in the second trailer, released by Nintendo of America's account today. Finally, Nintendo highlights the pre-launch online tournament in the third trailer.

The Mario sports franchise has seen many ups, but in recent time, a few downs. Both Mario Sports Mix and and Mario Sports Superstars have under a 70 on Metacritic. Talking Mario Tennis specifically, there hasn't been a hit since Mario Power Tennis on GameCube. The most recent Mario Tennis, Ultra Smash for the Wii U, has a score of 58. This means that not only is it the lowest rated Mario Tennis game, it's also one of the lowest rated Mario games of all time on Metacritic. With Aces, it looks like Nintendo has listened to fan complaints. The Japanese overview trailer highlights many of the new features, showcasing what looks to be a familiar, yet unique experience.

The first trailer introduces us to Adventure Mode, while the second gives a lot more details on it.

The first trailer highlights story elements, and the second one puts it as the center focus. We now know the basic story: a "Legendary Racket" captures Luigi. It also looks like the dark force from the Racket is possessing Wario and Waluigi. Interestingly, the Japanese trailer features one more story scene with Luigi and some of the cast. The official Nintendo video description for Adventure Mode is, "In Adventure mode, level up Mario and thwart the wicked plans of Wario, Waluigi, and the legendary racket itself." The two trailers highlight a world map and challenges for Adventure Mode. Both show a boss battle against Petey Piranha. (The Japanese trailer features a battle against Gooper Blooper, presumably part of Adventure Mode as well.)

Finally, the third trailer is essential viewing for those interested in the pre-launch online tournament. According to the trailer, the tournament will be held from June 1st, 6:00 p.m. (PDT) to June 3rd, 11:59 p.m. (PDT). This should make for a great way to demo the game. And, as the trailer highlights, those who participate in the online tournament will get Mario's classic outfit when they purchase the game. (Don't delete the demo though before buying the game, as the trailer states that the game needs the saved data from the demo to unlock the outfit.)
