So far, 2020 is truly a cursed year, as it's the one where we finally learned that L is Real. A number of Nintendo 64 source codes have leaked online, including for games like Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and Animal Forest, which is the original Japanese version of Animal Crossing

There was a major hack of Nintendo material several years ago, which initially resulted in the Space World '97 demo of Pokémon Gold & Silver leaking online. This was followed by a leak of one of the early builds of Pokémon Red & GreenIn 2020, a number of OS resources for several Nintendo consoles (like the Wii) leaked online. Last night, several prototypes of Super Nintendo games leaked, including beta versions of games like Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.

A new leak has happening and it involves source codes from several Nintendo 64 games making their way online. An incomplete list of the games includes 1080 Snowboarding, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Ura Zelda, and Animal Forest (the Japanese version of Animal Crossing). These files can be found on websites like 4Chan and we won't link to them here, as they contain material legally owned by Nintendo.

One of the biggest discovery regards Luigi resources in Super Mario 64. Luigi was infamously missing from Super Mario 64, spawning a number of urban legends regarding a way to bring him into the game. It's known that he was planned to appear in a multiplayer component of Super Mario 64, but the hardware struggled to run it, so it didn't make it into the final version of the game. Not only that, but Super Mario World also allegedly contains assets in which Luigi shows off his middle finger to the player and some never-before-seen characters, such as a mustachioed, grandpa Yoshi

The leak also reveals more about The Legend Of Zelda, including some early rooms created for Ocarina of Time and early 3D models of Link. There's also some evidence that a scrapped game initially contained blood and rust on Link's sword.

This leak has the potential to be the biggest one yet, especially for fans of The Legend of Zelda games on Nintendo 64. Those titles have spawned numerous urban legends over the years, and the time has come to separate fact from fiction.
