Roughly one month after reopening its doors to the public, Nintendo NYC will now no longer require reservations for patrons to enter. Per New York City health guidelines in August, the official Nintendo Store was permitted to open for business, but had to limit its in-store capacity. To do this, the company set up a website where patrons would reserve a spot in various 30-minute intervals.
While the store will still be following limited capacity guidelines, you'll no longer need to plan a trip in advance. Admittance to the store is still operating on a "first come, first serve" basis, but you can queue up outside and wait for your chance to shop in a Nintendo dreamland. Nintendo will be limiting all customers to around 30 minutes, but most people probably won't take that long to get their games and go.
As should be common practice by now, you'll be required to wear a face mask and be asked to use hand sanitizer before entering and upon leaving. Nintendo suggests the standard six feet of distance and recommends that anyone that has been in contact with someone that has contracted COVID-19 not come to the store. These are basic guidelines you should be living your life by, but it bears repeating.
With the store having recently stocked a number of Animal Crossing: New Horizons inspired button-up shirts, this seems like a measure done to increase revenue. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but it's nice that Nintendo is taking precautions to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
