San Diego Comic-Con might not seem like the place to get exclusive gaming collectibles, but that isn't stopping Nintendo from bringing the goods. The house of Mario is teaming up with some impressive partners, resulting in a variety of swag. Attendees can get a preview of a new line of gummy power-ups, Splatoon 2 keychains based on the final Splatfest, and an SDCC-exclusive Mario Kart collectible. The methods of acquiring these are just as diverse as the products themselves, so let's break them down.

First, it's worth noting that Nintendo itself won't actually be in the convention center. The nearby San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina will host the Nintendo Gaming Lounge. Fans can go there to try demos of Pokémon Sword & Shield, Luigi’s Mansion 3, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Super Mario Maker 2, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. There'll also be photo ops with Luigi and Gooigi, probably using the same statues from E3.

It's also where you can go to see Sugarfina debut its new candy collection based on classic Mario power-ups. Three gummies will be debuted: pineapple Invincibility Stars, apple-flavored Green Mushrooms, and cherry-flavored Red Mushrooms. Sugarfina is also making a collector's set based on the Nintendo Entertainment System. It's a Bento Box-style set with one piece being the console and two smaller boxes that look like controllers.

My Nintendo members will find a special opportunity for them at the Nintendo Gaming Lounge. They can bring their My Nintendo QR Code to be scanned, earning them an exclusive Splatoon 2 Chaos vs. Order keychain set. The keychains commemorate the game's final SplatFest, so will probably go very quickly.

Finally, there's the mother of all collectibles: A Gold Mario die-cast car and glider. Well, only a lucky few will get that. Mattel is putting out a new line of Mario Kart-themed Hot Wheels. To commemorate, the Mattel SDCC booth is selling a Metal Mario die-cast car that has the glider attachment seen in more recent Mario Karts. Only one in ten of these Metal Marios will turn out to be a Gold Mario, making it a collectible among collectibles. And did we mention it's exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con? Better race to Mattel's booth first thing if you want to score this trophy.
