There's no two ways about it, the Switch has been an absolute juggernaut for Nintendo. In fact, it continues to be. Exactly what Nintendo needed after the flop that was the Wii U. Nintendo's latest numbers revealed the console has now sold more than 103 million units worldwide. That means it is the best-selling home console in Nintendo history, surpassing the 101 million sold by the incredibly successful Wii.

Just a few weeks later, the Switch has left its older sibling eating its dust in another, perhaps even more impressive facet. Nintendo has now sold 375.65 million Switch games. An absolutely staggering number, and one that is higher than the 373.77 million games shipped for the Wii. What makes the Switch's running total even more impressive is that the Wii's number includes the almost 83 million copies of Wii Sports that came free with the Wii console.

While the Switch's console sales are still a long way off dethroning the Game Boy and the DS, the system has now sold more games than not just the Wii, but any other Nintendo console ever. After the Wii in a not-so-distant second place, for now, the DS is sitting on 311.02 million games sold. It's also worth noting the DS would be above the Wii in the rankings if it wasn't for Wii Sports.

If you're not already flabbergasted by all of these massive numbers, this might tip you over the edge. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 38.74 million copies. That means it accounts for more than one in every ten Switch games sold. Another 10 percent of those sales are made up by Animal Crossing: New Horizons which has sold 37.62 million copies less than two years on from its launch. 375 million Switch games sold, and just two games are responsible for more than a fifth of that number.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway of all from all of this for Nintendo is that the Switch shows no real signs of slowing down. The pandemic drove a lot of people who probably wouldn't have bought a console to pick one up, and a lot of them opted for a Switch. Despite being three and a half years older than the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the Switch continues to compete and often outsell both of them. An amazing piece of tech that will likely keep breaking and setting records for years to come.
