If you're using Nintendo Switch Online from Europe, you no longer need to worry about being saddled exclusively with 50Hz versions of your favorite N64 games. Nintendo of Europe confirmed today that its library will include 60Hz English language versions of N64 classics.

PAL releases of N64 games didn't run quite as fast as their NTSC counterparts, with the former clocking in at 50 Hz while North American NTSC titles ran at 60Hz. Those old PAL releases did run some degree slower on your old CRT setups, but Nintendo's online service won't make those the norm this time around. The 60Hz versions will be the default in Nintendo's online service, though some games will still include the option to play the PAL original launches with language options.

Eurogamer highlighted fan concerns late last month, shortly after Nintendo's new Direct showcase. Back on the Wii's Virtual Console service, Nintendo did provide 60Hz options for some of its European releases, so it's not the first time the company has acknowledged the preference for its classics.

Nintendo Switch Online has been out for quite some time, but September's Nintendo Direct brought news that the company would expand upon the service with a new, "Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack" option. The service is set to bring a new library of N64 games to Switch, including titles like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Starfox 64, and Mario Tennis. It's also adding Sega titles to that retro library, too, with classics like Contra, Ecco The Dolphin, Golden Axe, and others.
