The Queen is dead, and as a result, UK residents are in mourning. Not only has this canceled whatever official plans the government may have had for the prescribed mourning period, but it's also led Nintendo UK to delay the release of tomorrow's Nintendo Direct.
The Direct will be broadcast everywhere else at 10 AM ET (2 PM GMT) tomorrow. In the UK, however, there will be no broadcast. Instead, the Direct will simply be posted to the Nintendo UK YouTube page after 4 PM.
"As a mark of respect during this period of national mourning, we will not livestream tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct," wrote the official Nintendo UK Twitter account. "It will be published as a video-on-demand on our YouTube channel at 16:00 (UK time) tomorrow."
Some Nintendo fans are surprised that four days isn't long enough for a Direct to be broadcast live. According to the royal family's official website, the mourning period is requested to be observed until one week after Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, which is scheduled to take place on September 19.
Of course, there's nothing really stopping UK residents from simply logging into the Nintendo of America site to watch tomorrow's broadcast. But just know that Nintendo UK will consider it disrespectful to not wait until 4 PM.
As for what the Direct will be about, leakers revealed earlier today that they expect it to mostly be about the Legend of Zelda, with the possibilities of a Wind Waker port and a Breath of the Wild sequel to make appearances. There's also talk of the long-awaited Metroid Prime remaster, which will precede Metroid Prime 4 that’s currently in development.
