Finding chickens can be a bit difficult, but we are here to help. In this guide, we are going to go over how to get your initial chickens, as well as any additional ones. First, let's take a look at the quest to gather these troublesome animals.

Speaking With Cornelius

When you first arrive at the farm, you will find Cornelius, a chicken located near the stairs to your treehouse. Cornelius will provide a few introduction quests to help you get started; one of these quests involves finding five chickens.

Eventually, you can tame Cornelius too. This can be done by giving him a truffle after completing The Amazing Travels of Sir Cornelius quest, which requires you to speak with him at the following locations:

  • The Farm
  • The Village
  • Lonely Hills
  • Underground
  • Frozen Peaks
  • Dusty Desert

Completing this quest will cause him to join you on the farm where he can be tamed. After being tamed, Cornelius will produce an orange seed each day.

Next, let's take a look at where to find normal chickens.

Where To Find Chickens

Prior to cleaning up trash, you can find two chickens wandering around the area in front of your treehouse.

To find more chickens, you will need to clean up the trash around the farm. These animals can be found inside cages that can be opened when interacted with. Once the cage opens, the chicken will walk out, and you can befriend it by giving it a potato.

If there is enough room in a coop, the chicken will be tamed and make its way there. If you do not have enough coop space, an icon of one will appear above the chicken's head. Additionally, you will not be able to give the chicken a potato for friendship.

Once befriended, you will be able to name the chicken and give it a cute hat.

In the image above, you can check out the location of chicken cages around the farm. You can also find chickens in cages within other areas, but to complete the quest for Cornelius, you don't have to leave the farm. These small beasts cluck pretty loudly, so when you approach a hidden chicken cage, you can hear them.

Taking Care Of Chickens

After your chickens have made it to the coop, you will need to take care of them. In a basic coop, you can raise five chickens at a time. Here, they will produce one egg a day if you took care of them the day before. With an upgraded coop, you can have up to ten chickens.

Taking care of chickens involves fulfilling a request that will appear in a bubble above their head. They will request one of the following:

  • 1x Pet Food
  • Affection
  • A Bath

Once you have taken care of your chicken, all you need to do is wait until the following day, and they will produce an egg that can be collected.

That's all there is to know about finding and taking care of chickens. It's important to always have a few potatoes on hand, as well as extra space in your coops; you never know when you will run into a stray chicken!
