Have you ever found yourself playing your 1000 mod set up of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and thought, "man, I really wish I could stop playing this." Well, today's your lucky day, because now there's a mod for that too.

The NoSkyrim mod does just what the name suggests: stops you from playing Skyrim. When you boot it up to start a new game, it simply won't let you. However, while the mod has been a hit on Reddit, Nexus Mods wasn't as keen on the joke, and has already taken it down.

Despite this, the mod's creator seems incredibly proud of this accomplishment. Announcing NoSkyrim in r/skyrimmods, they said: "IT HAPPENED, after a year of me sitting on my ass I did something productive, and made NoSkyrim THE GREATEST MOD ON THE NEXUS." Answering the question on everyone's minds, they further explained the mod, "It does what you think it does, make it impossible to play the actual game. So now when you hit new game, instead of playing the fucking game, you just don't."

The feedback appears to be overwhelmingly positive. In the replies, danieln1212 says, "So instead of downloading 200 mods and making Skyrim not launch I can now do it with only one, what an efficient mod." Many in the replies are going along with the joke, leaving comments such as: "After downloading this mod, I was still able to play Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch. Can you fix this bug, please?"

Upon hearing the news that NoSkyrim had been removed from Nexus Mods, the creator started a petition for it to be reinstated. They've even started a new subreddit, r/savenoskyrim, where fans make passionate pleas for its return, such as: "Since this mod was taken down the game has been literally playable! Why would the nexus staff do this!"

It remains to be seen if Nexus Mods is moved by these requests.
