Sony is starting the PS5 generation with a bang, by frontloading the first PS+ of the era with top tiles, like Hollow Knight, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and its first PS5 game, with Bugsnax.
A lot has been said about the declining quality of PS+ over the past few years, especially when PS3 and PSVita games stopped being included in the service. Sony is offering a huge incentive for people to sign up for PS+ with the PS5, as subscribers will receive a killers row of high-quality PS4 games in the PlayStation Plus Collection.
The PS5 is due to be released in November (assuming you were lucky enough to snag a PS5 pre-order), and Sony is starting the PS+ line-ups for the system with a bang. According to a post on the official PlayStation Blog, the free PS+ games for November 2020 include Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and Bugsnax for the PS5. It bears mentioning that Bugsnax is also coming to PS4, but PS+ subscribers won't receive that version of the game for free. A post announcing these games was made on the official PlayStation Twitter page.
Bugsnax is an upcoming first-person adventure game, where the player has to explore an island and catch bug monsters. Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition is one of the best Metroidvanias of the modern era, with some of the most gorgeous (and creepy) graphics on any system. Middle-earth: Shadow of War is an excellent stealth/action game, but the story won't make sense unless you played its predecessor. The latter two are excellent games and would make for a star-studded line-up on their own.
It seems that Sony is making a big push for PS+ subscriptions going into the PS5 era, especially with the reveal that Destruction AllStars was going to be a free PS+ game next February/March. Bugsnax might not be a huge title to lead with, but it means that new PS5 owners will have a library of titles out of the gate if you also include Astro's Playroom and the PlayStation Plus Collection titles.
Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be available to PS+ subscribers from November 3 until November 30, 2020. Bugsnax will be available when the PS5 launches in each region and will remain as a freebie until January 4, 2021.
