The classic arcade game of the 80's - Bubble Bobble - will be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch later this year. Nintendo and Bubble Bobble have a long running history together and this news comes after an official announcement trailer dropped on YouTube earlier today. Officially named Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, the new game is looking to expand upon the cult classic, opening up exciting opportunities for gamers of all ages.
Bubble Bobble first released in arcades back in 1986. The game was made by the company Taito and was later ported to various home consoles along the way. The Bubble Bobble franchise has proven to be incredibly successful over the years, spawning countless sequels and showing up on a wide variety of consoles over the course of its existence. Bubble Bobble and Nintendo have a great history together since its release on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since then, Bubble Bobble was released on the Nintendo eShop for the 3Ds and Wii U as well as the various sequels on other Nintendo consoles along the way, including the Nintendo DS and Gameboy Advance. Bubble Bobble was included in the release of the NES Classic Edition in 2016.
The Nintendo Switch will have the opportunity to carry on the Bubble Bobble legacy. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is sure to utilize the dynamic ways to play on the Switch. The abilities of the console and ease at which you can play with friends will lend itself well to the game. It could become a fun party game going forward marking another win for the Nintendo catalog that separates itself from its competitors with its party-style gaming and fun for the whole family.
Our nostalgia-tinged hearts were filled with joy when the sudden trailer drop announced to everyone that a new Bubble Bobble game was coming to us courtesy of the Nintendo Switch. The introduction of the 4-player Mayhem will help set itself apart from its predecessors while also honoring the legacy of those that came before it. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will release on November 19th of this year in Europe and will make its way to US consumers early in 2020.
