NZXT is a company that made a name for itself building gaming PCs. If one were to visit the NZXT website right now, they'd find a page full of different builds. One of the brand's main selling points is how friendly it is to customization. While the website does offer pre-built PCs for things like streaming, video production, and beginners to gaming, it also has a tool for building the PC of your dreams. It also offers a PC case that has Ninja's logo, for those who want that. Now the company is extending its reach to gaming audio.

The first foray into audio for NZXT comes in the form of three products that all work together to meet all gaming sound needs. They'll also offer the signature NZXT potential for customization through a few clever design choices. The centerpiece of the whole thing is a headset. The AER lightweight wired headset, to be exact.

The AER headset comes in two main configurations: open and closed back. The open back is meant to boost midrange audio for more awareness of environmental sounds. The closed, meanwhile, functions like a lot of other gaming headsets by isolating the ear and boosting bass. Both headsets will also come with the novel function of supporting the microphone on either side. Finally, the AER will have easy compatibility with console, PC, and mobile devices alike. Finally, a gaming headset that can double as casual headphones.

The next piece is the MXER audio control station. This little device – the black block in the picture – acts as the go-between for the PC's sound. It can balance game and chat audio, as well as control volume. When connected to the headset and stand, it will also allow for automatic switching from headset to speaker audio.

Last is the STND. Obviously, it's the stand. Aside from being a sturdy steel frame in its own right, it can connect to the AER and the MXER for extra functions. The most impressive is the switching feature that's enabled when all three items come together. When the headset is placed on STND, the sound comes from the speakers. As soon as it comes off, audio comes from the headset. It's promised to be a seamless, convenient setup.

TheGamer got to try the NZXT audio suite at E3 2019. The setup did indeed switch quickly from headset to speaker audio. The headset itself also provided great sound. While more testing will be needed to fully discuss the product, early impressions are that it's a sleek, convenient addition to any gaming desk.
