Disney has added a content warning to the first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi because of its scenes set during Order 66.

Obi-Wan Kenobi finally released on Disney Plus yesterday after years of waiting from fans, unfortunately it was overshadowed by as a shooting in Texas that saw an 18-year-old kill 21 people. The opening scene of the first episode shows off new footage of an attack on Jedi younglings because of Order 66 - hence the need for content warning.

Star Wars fans will know Order 66 as one of the pivotal moments in Star Wars lore, where Emperor Palpatine's plan is revealed and he orders his clone army to execute all Jedi. This tragically includes the young Jedi in training, Younglings, who are massacred by Anakin Skywalker and other clone troopers.

The first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi shows this in greater detail than we've seen in a show before, as it's a key part of both Anakin and Obi-Wan's story. However, in light of the Texas shooting, Disney has rightly updated the description of the episode to feature a content warning that those scenes might be upsetting in light of recent events.

The content warning reads, "Although this fictional series is a continuation of the story from Star Wars movies filmed many years ago, some scenes may be upsetting to viewers in light of the recent tragic events. Warning: Contains violence involving children". It was later revised to, "There are certain scenes in this fictional series that some viewers may find upsetting".

As reported by Variety, Netflix also added a disclaimer to the first episode of season four of Stranger Things, which reads, “We filmed this season of ‘Stranger Things’ a year ago. But given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 distressing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one".

Some have pointed out that, while Netflix's disclaimer is at the start of the Stranger Things episode, Disney's content warning can only be found in the description of the episode and takes some searching to find.
